The Haktoys Battery Operated Bump & Go Animal Rider is a smile waiting to happen! I purchased this item for my one year old godson knowing that he loves animals, music, and lights. I can just say that I absolutely was not disappointed! He loves it and so do I! I received the Lion version of this (I'm not really sure if there's a way to choose…I know I'd love to also get him the Tiger toy!) I was a little skeptical when I first received it. The clear bottom part shows wires and some of the stickers were slightly off. My biggest issue with it is that it doesn't come with very clear directions. There's a diagram on one side of the book that you honestly miss if you're not looking closely. You also need a screw driver to open the battery compartment (3 AA batteries are not included!), but this is definitely a plus for small children. Assembly of the car was very easy. Once the batteries are installed, you just insert the clear pole into the back and push the animal down into its' compartment. To turn it on and off you simply push the animal down. It's a great toy for young children who just want to keep the fun going. It doesn't turn off after a while if you don't push it which is both a positive and a negative.
The best thing about the toy is that it moves a lot, makes a lot of music and flashes red and blue lights. It's really really cute in low light. I also really love that this toy moves a lot and when it approaches and hits things, it doesn't just keep running into that object…it turns! I love this as it'll continue to keep a child's attention and not just run itself into the same object over and over. The animal also moves back and forth as it goes. The animal rider moves best on a hard floor, but for smaller children using it on carpet just makes it go in a small confined area. Another great feature is the black cap on the bottom which can stop it from moving. I probably won't be using this as I'm a little leery of him choking on it, but it is a nice feature.
Overall, I would definitely purchase this again for other small children. He loves it and it definitely makes me smile at both the toy and his enjoyment of it. It's something that holds his interest and I hope he'll continue to enjoy it as he grows!
